LCPL Anderson Remembrance

LCPL Mitchell Anderson, my brother, is named on this War Memorial Monument found in Semper Fidelis Memorial Park just outside of the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Mitchell’s name is the second one listed on the upper left side - his Marine buddy PFC Joe Salinas is listed first. They were both killed in July 1965 near Qui Nhon, Binh Dinh Province, South Vietnam.

After our May 19, 2018, tour of the museum by chapter member LCDR (Ret.) Marty Schaller, I visited the Memorial Park. There, I saw for the first time, this memorial monument dedicated to the Marines killed in action from “E” Company 2/7, an infantry unit serving in Vietnam. My brother was one of those Marines.

As you can see at the bottom of the photo, there are bricks available for dedication to a fallen Marine. So, I will take this unique opportunity to honor my brother “Mitch” by acquiring a brick to be engraved with a personalized remembrance.
